Report from ... Arrival in Verona, Italy - January 27, 2012

After more than 12 hours worth of travel and 24+ hours of being awake I am finally in Verona, Italy for the Anteprima Amarone 2008 ... the pre-tasting of the Amarone wines coming out on the world markets.  Saturday is tasting day and later today there will be a Gala Dinner.  I seem to have come down with a bit of a cold and with so many hours awake I fear I missed said dinner (yes I said missed) ... but not before I struck out into the streets near where I am staying to grab a few pictures ... I'll admit that none of these have anything to do with wine, okay maybe one picture does ... those of you wanting to read about wine will be thrilled with the next four days as there will be nothing but, though I think food is also on the agenda (these dinners I will not miss) ... but for those missing the look of the old world in their lives and some interesting sites feast your eyes on these:

Probably a better sign for when I'm leaving
Stores on both sides of the street
I haven't stopped in yet - but you know I will - too good to pass up
Check out the Centurion on the right
Market in the square
For Erica: Custom Embroidered Aprons - now if I could just find a cooking shop
Alley way wine shop - they have a vertical of Petrus in the window
Tomorrow it's all about Amarone ... for now ciao.

If you consider 9 degrees warm then yes it is ... but it gets to about 1 or 2 at night.
